Let’s talk a little about protecting energy. I have learned the significance of protecting my energy over the years. In the past, I have trusted too easily, confided in others prematurely, and been betrayed by people I once considered friends, lovers, and even family. It’s so important to discern between people who are genuinely invested in you (and want the best for you), versus those that don’t have your best interest at heart.
My grandfather always told me, ” If you find one good friend in a lifetime, you’re blessed”.
Here are a few gems to bear in mind when choosing the company you keep:
- Discernment is key! Pay attention to how you feel about certain people and situations. Trust the vibes you get and don’t ignore it!!!
- Surround yourself with like-minded people who support you, pray for you, and genuinely want the best for you.
- If a person sees you shining, growing, and becoming a better person and doesn’t congratulate you, that’s a hater, not a friend! A friend will cheer for you and want to see you win. There’s no room for jealousy or hate!
- Don’t let anyone use or play you! Be mindful that someone may just be around for how they can benefit from you. That is not a characteristic of true and genuine friendship!!! And it’s definitely not love!!!
- Pay attention to the conversation! Does the conversation involve gossiping and negativity? Do you discuss ways to grow, uplift each other, and simply be there for one another? Sit with winners, the conversation is different.
- If a relationship is no longer serving you, it’s ok to walk away in peace.
Genuine friends and life supporters are hard to come by, therefore, make sure your circle (no matter how big or small) adds value, love, and light to your life. My grandfather always told me, ” If you find one good friend in a lifetime, you’re blessed”. Watch the company you keep!!! Energy is everything! Protect it!!!
